Dear Katie-and-Noah,

I was very pleased to see the lovely ear of corn on the Post Express' "Blog Log" page this morning! Even more to my surprise was mention of the Des Moines Farmers Market! As a former resident of DSM and current Dupont dweller, it's nice to be reminded of my roots...

Thanks for the Iowa "shout out." Way to represent!!

I've stumbled across a few DC local-neighborhood type blogs, usually being linked from DCist, and I have to say I love your blog! I moved to DC from Philly last June and I am still getting used to it here. I live at 12th & mass ave NW and I'm still getting over the fact that I can walk to the white house in like 10 minutes. I'm still trying to find all of those "neighborhoody" places as mentioned in your one post, and since my direct neighborhood has absolutely no charm whatsoever, I usually end up heading to logan/dupont for any/every thing. The only spot that I have found that even remotely resembles a place where everybody knows your name, is Old Dominion Brewhouse on 9th & M (right by the convention center). That's probably because my neighbor works there, so of course he knows my name, but other servers/bartenders always remember me. Granted, it's still a chain and I would love to have the rando middle-aged women dancing next to me (if you're ever in philly, go to Bonner's Irish Pub at 23rd & sansom... total creepshow, but so much fun).

Anyway... Love reading your stuff! Noah - I am also a huge nerd, working for the government as a mechanical engineer. Totally agree with the fact that "people are jealous". Haha.
