Everyone be on the lookout for an influx of art connoisseurs in the neighborhood this weekend. I predict waves of berets and soul patches as far as the eye can see.
The reason for this invasion is that tons of local artists are going to be opening up their studios as part of a big Mid City Artists event this Saturday and Sunday. Basically you get to meander around the Logan and Dupont areas, visiting their homes/studios and just sort of having a look around. And for once the artists will presumably not give you a dirty look and slam the door when you try to let yourself in (not that I have experience with this.) Should be a pretty good time!
This event appears to be geared more toward the subdued than the wine-lubricated free-for-all that perennial favorite First Friday usually is. But I’ve always really enjoyed talking to the artists at First Fridays, and it seems like at these open houses I’ll be more likely to do so while using proper grammar and social niceties. Ah, refinement!
So, check out the map and list of participating artists here, break out your favorite ascot and prepare to get all cultured.
