In my continuing obsession with all things coffee in the neighborhood, I’m 100-percent stoked about the news of Mid-City Cafe, a new coffee shop set to open in April on 14th Street in a space above Miss Pixie’s.
Despite some charges that “overpriced” coffee shops are bastions of “trustafarians” “banging at laptops” “pretending you’re a writer,” let me just say that some of us are actually writers who aren’t out to show off our MacBooks but rather need a change of scenery from our lonely apartment offices from time to time. Because, yeah, I’m far from a trustafarian and work a lot longer hours (not to mention earn more) as a freelance writer than I did in my last two staff jobs.
But I digress. New coffee shop in the neighborhood = !!!!

glad to see you have to keep justifying to yourself (and the world) that you are a ‘writer.’
Thanks for reading, Will!
keep saying you are a writer and i’m sure some one will eventually believe it.
Is there a wide selection coffee alternatives? Is it in fact overpriced? Perhaps on my next visit to DC land I’ll try! (assuming of course the previous questions are answered to my liking)
Katie! Come by for lunch! Tomorrow is Researcher Lunch!
A good thing too, since Mocha Hut finally closed and 14th+U never really reopened.
