Man, so I didn’t think I was really going to be doing these Who’s Embarrassing Iowa posts on a regular basis. It was just supposed to be a one-off joke, you see.
But Chuck Grassley always pulls through in a pinch.
Case in point, the esteemed Senator in today’s WaPo:
The rhetoric grew so heated yesterday that Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) suggested in a radio interview that AIG executives ought to “follow the Japanese model . . . resign, or go commit suicide.”
That’s just terrific sir; we know you have so much outrage! But as a tip, I think the faux-populist thing may start to lose a little believability when you literally start hoping for people’s deaths. Just a thought.
NB: I realize that no one in the world wants this to become some kind of politics blog, so I promise that this will be the last time I talk about an Iowa politician. Pinkie swear!
