The Logan Circle listserv doesn’t tend to be all that illuminating. But I’m loving it a little more these days after it informed me about a new wine shop, Boston Wine & Spirit Store, which opened last Friday at 1905 9th St. NW (you now, on that stretch of Little Ethiopia).
So on our way to dinner at El Sol last Friday, we stopped by for the shop’s grand opening party and wine tasting. Not only was there tasty snack food (homemade hummus, cheese and crackers) and generous wine tastings, but everyone was just so friendly—the owner actually shook our hands and welcomed us.
The good news for the rest of you is that apparently Boston Wine & Spirit Store is repeating the Friday night party again today, from 4 to 9 p.m. tonight, featuring two reds and two whites as well as “an assortment of breads and cheeses.”
Because let’s face it, the economy isn’t exactly ripe for new business ventures. So do your neighborly deed and give the shop a friendly welcome. Who couldn’t use an extra bottle of vino?

tell me more about your dinner at el sol. ive been intrigued as i pass it to eat at la carbonara.
We’re big fans of El Sol for cheap, reliable, tasty food. I’d definitely recommend their pupusas and giant vegetarian burros (much better than the bland versions common elsewhere). And it’s usually not very busy, so service is good and you never have to wait for a table.
