Man, has it been a ridiculously long week for everyone else too? By Tuesday I was lamenting having to go back to work the next morning. And all this is before we make the always carefree and soothing flight back to the sub-arctic ice-scape that is Iowa in December.
So you’ll have to forgive me for not summoning the energy to discuss achievement in the charter schools, the increase in the District’s budget gap, or even the status of Operation Pack in the Porta-Potties (5000!)
In lieu of serious commentary, I’d like to post a picture of a funny ad I saw on the Metro. Yes, we hold things to a high standard here at D,S.

Mmmm…tell me that doesn’t make your mouth water. Nothing says Rockwell-esque ideal of home cooking like a heaping dish of Penne al Ammonia.
In all seriousness, though, wow is this weird. First of all, who knew the fertilizer industry advertised? And on the Metro? Coming from Iowa, Katie and I can say with certainty that there’s still a giant, all-encompassing demand for fertilizer, so I’m not sure why they’re hawking it so blatantly. Don’t worry, Fertilizer Lobby, just ship the good stuff out west!
And furthermore, who chose that graphic? The first time I saw it, I couldn’t eat pasta for a week without tasting urea!
Anyway, the point of all this is to say that posting in the next week or so will probably be light as we’ll be hanging out with the fam. But who knows, maybe one of them will do something embarrassing that will make for good blog fodder. Keep your fingers crossed!
Oh! And don’t forget to vote in the Thai Restaurant Game finals. Results soon!
