Sorry to hate on a nice locally-owned business (we usually support those!), but M’Dawg Haute Dogs always struck me as A) a comically pretentious concept and B) gross. Hot dogs are gross, no two ways about it, even if they’re really expensive.
By far the best thing to come out of the whole M’Dawg experiment, though, was this awesome video feature a friend of ours made of a hot dog eating contest held at the shop.
Watch with rapt attention and barely suppressed horror as these fierce competitors devour hot dog after hot dog, all in the name of…I don’t know, prize money? I think there was a prize.
Anyway, its seems that even fun contests such as this couldn’t attract the upscale clientele M’Dawg was looking for. Alas, perhaps it wasn’t to be. But I’ll continue to support hot dog eating contests for the sheer appreciation of their sporting vigor, though I of course prefer them to be of the veggie variety.
